Next Wave looking for volunteers

Here at Next Wave, we understand that life is all about.give

The 2004 Next Wave Festival hits Melbourne from 18 -30 May and we need you! Join a team of enthusiastic and motivated people to gain crucial industry experience and an insider's view of one of Victoria's major festivals. We seek to create a supportive environment where you can work alongside industry professionals and gain valuable experience along the way.

Next Wave is looking for volunteers to assist in a range of roles - which can be tailored to suit you. Possibilities include:
Front-of-house. Collect tickets and then get to see the show for free!
Bump in and Bump out of visual arts events and performances. That's industry speak for putting up and taking down, What it really means is you get first hand experience of setting up a show and the chance to interact with the artists and see their vision take shape.
Invigilating. Another strange industry term for sitting in a gallery. Are they trying to confuse us?
Barfly - enjoying the entertainment, forums and debates at the Festival Club - from the fridge side of the bar
Market research from the ground up - surveying audiences, selling tickets, meeting and greeting. You don't have to be a model to be the face of the Next Wave Festival.

Whether you have specific skills or just want to learn a bit about how a festival works, this is a great opportunity to get involved.

and take

Not only will you be able to bask in the philanthropic glow that goes with dedicating your time to the service of the arts, you will also get free stuff. Including beer!

All 2004 Next Wave Volunteers will be invited to an exclusive pre festival preview event and the post-festival venue with the mostest - The Next Wave Festival Club. At this event Marcus Westbury, Artistic Director will give all volunteers the lowdown on how this festival came to be. And believe me, it's a LONG story so you'll more than likely want to make use of one of the FREE DRINK tokens we will provide. Also provided will be:

Limited Edition 2004 Next Wave Festival T-shirt
Designed by shamefully talented Festival Designers Tin&Ed and put together by embarrassingly high class T-shirt people Spacecraft. Available in black and yellow, these are one festival T-shirt that you won't be wearing to bed once the last show is over.

Token for complimentary entry to one night at the Festival Club

Volunteer Goodies Bag
Choc full of promotional goodness, this bag contains movie tickets, meal tickets, and probably more paper and packaging than truly necessary.

For a chance to get involved, email Fiona at fiona@nextwave.org.au or call 03 9662 1099 and she will match you up with a project.

WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!
