In September of 1981 Rev. Francis Dawood was appointed pastor of St. Thomas Parish in Turlock, California Father Dawood started a mission in San Jose, California where he celebrated the Holy Mass for the Assyrian-Caldean Catholic a BI-weekly schedule at St Lucys church in Campbell.
Sejour Saas FeeIn July 1986, Father Giuliano Costo, An Italian Priest who was ordained for the Assyrian Chaldean Archdiocese of Tehran, came to serve this community. He started celebrating the Holy mass every Sunday. Unfortunately Fr. Juliano couldnt stay for long time, so he left to Canada. Father Francis continued saying the Mass every Sunday.
In September 1987 Rev. Yoshia Sana arrived from Rome to serve the Community in San Jose upon the request of Mar-Ibrahim. Father Yoshia continued to celebrate Mass at St Lucys Church. In March 1988 the parish purchased a house in Santa Teresa area. This house has been used at rectory for the parish and residence of the priest. At the same time it was as the center of the all activities of the parish such as meeting, Bible study for youth and children classes.
In March 1995, Father Yoshia and the Community purchased the current church in the City of Campbell. Major remodeling was done and Bishop Mar Ibrahim Ibrahim dedicated the church to St. Mary on September 23, 1995. In 1996, the parish sold the first house and purchased a house adjacent to the church.
When father Yoshia Sana started in 1987 there were 150 families, today the number of members in increased up to 330 families. The parish has about 12 to 14 baptisms every year, about 12 to 14 first communion, and between 3 to 5 weddings. We ask the lord to bless our parish and all our members who are working for the glory of his Holy Name.
