| Exciting Developments for Fall Youth Hockey SLAPSHOTZ has set in motion plans for the next fall season. There will be two leagues, a youth competitive league that will play on Saturdays and the youth recreational league that will continue to play on Sundays. The youth competitive league will be structured according to USA Hockey Inline rules: four players and a goalie on the floor, play will be with a puck, and will be structured around team units. The youth recreational league will have five players and a goalie on the floor, will play with a ball, and will be structured around the individual player. The recreational teams will be structured to have equal talent and the coaches will evaluate new players prior to permanent team placement. SLAPSHOTZ is determined to keep the teams from being overcrowded so space will be limited. There will be a special deadline for all former league players to sign up for the next season, after which time registration will be open to the general public. To guarantee placement on a team, your child must be registered prior to August 1, 1998. Public registrations will be accepted beginning August 2nd. The final deadline for all registrations is August 16th. The competitive league will begin on September 12th and the recreational league will begin on September 13th. | Parents Encouraged to Volunteer! Parents are encouraged to get involved with the hockey leagues this year and help develop them into the first class operations that each child deserves. SLAPSHOTZ is one of the top roller hockey facilities in the country and should operate the best program. This can only happen with support from the parents! There are many things that volunteers can do to get involved and make each child's experience a positive one. These include such things as Scorekeeping, Refereeing, Coaching, public relations, etc. |
| SLAPSHOTZ Hosts USA Hockey InLine Regional Tournament: The Nation's Largest and A Great Success! The nation's biggest regional tournament was held at SLAPSHOTZ with thirty teams from the East Coast participating in the USA Hockey InLine Regional Tournament the first week in June. Teams ranged in ages from '10 & Under' up to '17 & under'. Although no SLAPSHOTZ teams won, the Fairfax Stars '10 & Under's' won their division and the Ashburn (VA) Inferno won the under 12, 14 and 17 divisions. Those teams are now going to represent the area in the Championship Tournament in Chicago in August. The regional tournament was covered by Prestige TV and the Washington and Richmond papers. Congratulations to all participants and volunteers who made this one of the best regional tournaments. |
| 1998 WSI World War Three Tournament Comes to SLAPSHOTZ WSI has scheduled to have its 1998 WSI World War Three Hockey Tournament at SLAPSHOTZ on August 21-23. This tournament includes divisions for both youth and adult. This is a USA Hockey InLine sanctioned tournament and all players must be registered with USA Hockey InLine. Weekend warrior memberships, valid for the duration of the tournament, are available for an additional $5.00 per person. Participants in this tournament will use a puck and will be required to have all equipment required in the USA Hockey InLine rules. Tournament Fee will be $375 (per team), if paid prior to July 24th the fee is only $350. No registrations will be accepted after August 8th. | Summer Roller Hockey Pick-Up Schedule SLAPSHOTZ has set up a special schedule for summer hockey pick-up. The fee for a one hour session is $5.00 and $7.00 for a 1 1/2 hour session. Discounted Pre-Paid Pick-up cards are available in the Pro Shop. |

| Camps & Clinics for Youth of All Ages Three Camps/Clinics are scheduled for late July and early August: July 28-31 Noon to 4:00 P.M. Team USA Advanced Skills Clinic. This is an intensive four day program with professional and top amateur roller hockey athletes for intermediate and advanced players. Cost: $250 La Roche luxury hotelsAugust 3 2-4:00 P.M. Virginia Vultures Clinic (Major League Roller Hockey Team) will be a two hour skills clinic for all levels of play. Cost: $10 per person.
