The Woman in the Mirror

I have been quite busy ever since I returned to Vancouver from Edmonton so I haven't been very good with updates. Instead of recounting and boring all of my readers with every single event that has happened since Wednesday, let's just say that the past few days have been filled with highs and lows and a test on my character.

What do I mean by a test on my character? It isn't so much as a test, but there are two things about me that I always strive to change and which I sometimes fail to do because I relapse into committing the same flaws that I try to abolish -- my inability to not take things so seriously and the fear that others will think negatively of me. It is often that I misinterpret or I misunderstand someone. Oftentimes, they make a statement about me or other things that they may not necessarily attach any meaning to and I either take it to heart or I take on a defensive stance to protect myself from any perceived emotional injuries on my person. Let me tell you one thing. These flaws are innate and they will definitely not serve me well both personally and professionally in the future. They are things that should be modified or banished altogether.

I need a change. Do any of you remember the song "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson? I know he's not exactly hip anymore, but it's a good, environmental song that came out during the late 1980s about making changes. Change arises when people begin to make changes themselves. So what should I do? Should I start with the woman in the mirror?
