Will it happen? Well, we'll see how Bush does in the next four years. If the situation gets worse, I won't be surprised if those Americans who did not vote for Dubya and who are discontented with him begin to come here in droves. With their anti-abortion stance, I also would not be surprised if American women who seek abortion start to flock to Canada to get the procedure done. Many seniors in America are already buying cheaper prescription drugs from Canada and have been doing so for quite some time now.

Canada is close by, but I have also heard of France, Germany and New Zealand as places that people would also emigrate to.

I may be inaccurate in saying this, but I believe that if things actually do worsen in the U.S, the large majority of those who choose to immigrate will most likely pick Canada as their choice of destination. This is mainly due to the fact that Canada is closer, as you have said, and mainly because the way of life in both countries are very similar.
